Installing the New Solar System 2019


UPDATING THE SOLAR SYSTEM


It was important for us to update our solar system when we settled in. 
We needed a ditch to run cables to the new solar panels on the shed roof, and also to run power to the shed. So, Graham got to work with the tools he had.  

A crowbar, shovel and rake.  
It was gruelling work.





Once the prep work was one, Ken Greaves from Omni came to install our new Alpha ESS System

We replaced and increased the old solar panels on the house with 10 new ones, 
and installed 9 panels onto the shed roof.  



Graham was very happy!

NOTE:  We did upgrade our inverter to a totally off grid model, 
and added 2 more batteries after a few years.  We are still very happy!!

Replacing the Fence

The yard fencing was tired and needed replacing.  Time for Graham to work his magic.  His vision... log posts and a new shape to the yard. After drawing up plans, Graham ordered the supplies, and hired Tony Ingram to dig the post holes (as we live in limestone country) and bring fresh soil for the new orchard area. He put the new fence wire up in sections, leaving the old fence up while he placed the posts and then took the old fence down after the new wire was strung. Once the fence was done, it was time to start of the orchard Building up retaining walls for the new mini orchard  and then filling it with new soil.  Adding branches for a decorative wind break, which the birds love!
